Sept. 18 -- To the Editor:
(from SeacoastOnline.com)
I want to encourage all Maine voters to vote for Michele Meyer, candidate for the Maine House of Representatives, District 2, which is all of Eliot and parts of Kittery and South Berwick. A nurse educator and advocate for improving the health of all Vermonters for over 40 years, I retired to Eliot, Maine with my husband several years ago with the intention of becoming involved in my new community. In these efforts, I soon met Michele who was actively involved in making change in Eliot where she has lived for 25 years. As the Chair of the Eliot Aging in Place Committee, I have had the privilege of collaborating with her in our mutual interest of enhancing the quality of life for people of all ages.
Michele will bring many qualities to her role in representing the communities of District 2, but I would like to focus on the benefit of having this nurse as our representative. Her nursing experience has made her an advocate in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations. Her unique perspective of collaboration and compassion will bring a valued voice to the Statehouse. Michele’s 25-year career of protecting, promoting, and optimizing health has laid the groundwork for this new role. Her lived experience in alleviating the suffering of individuals and families will guide her persistent efforts in achieving affordable and accessible healthcare for the underinsured and uninsured. In this challenging time of Maine’s opioid crisis, she is determined to be an active participant in developing creative yet realistic solutions to this complex problem.
Join me in voting for Michele Meyer on Nov. 6. She is well aware that protecting our natural resources, and creating good jobs, affordable housing, and a secure retirement for seniors are essential for maximizing the health of all Mainers.
